A corner building in Buenos Aires is reconditioned because of its patrimonial value. This Art Deco building is structured from its perimeter, which results in a free plant of great flexibility.
Our proposal was to take the existing building as a continuous base to the whole corner, crowned by the new volume. The project creates a new building, with a novel sense and a new formal expression. Simple and pure in character, the new volume emphasizes and enhances the building’s location on a corner.
The reformulation of the ground floor contributes to this new relationship, modifying the typical access by making it transparent and adding to it a commercial store. The relocation of the vertical core allowed for a better disposition of each floor and the construction of a pressurized stairway.
