Building / Palermo / 2004-5
This project was carried out in Palermo, a part of the city in which changes in the building code encouraged property development and fostered social and cultural change.
This multi-family apartment building was conceived as duplex apartments one on top of the other, so as to have all the advantages of a house in a horizontal property building. The 1st and 2nd stories constitute one duplex, as do the 3rd and 4th. The 5th, 6th, and 7th stories make up a triplex apartment. The building has two bodies, one at the front and one at the back, and the vertical core between them acts as a bellows.
The entrance to each apartment is in the top floor, where the common areas are while the lower floor contains the bedrooms. On their top floor, the triplex apartments have a laundry room, a built-in grill, and a lot of relaxing space, making the most of the excellent view and orientation.
The ground floor has parking space and common areas such as the swimming pool and the quincho.
For the finishes we chose good, noble materials such as wood, smoothed cement, aluminum carpentries, and Venetian style glass mosaic tiles. The result was a high-quality, high comfort building.
